Pros And Cons Of The Fue Hair Transplant

Fue follicular transplantation is the most accredited technique among the new hair transplantation methods. The fue transplant is performed by extracting follicular units, that is a hair bulb at a time from the scalp of the nape through a punch , that is a circular micro bistro of 0.9 to 1.2 mm in diameter. The follicular units are taken from the back of the neck because this area has genetically more robust hair with a high density. The technique is a traumatic and the extraction takes place in one movement. Follicular units are immediately transplanted into the recipient area with special implantation tools (micro transplant) leaving scars much smaller than the fuss transplant. With the fue technique no procedures like strip extraction or hair plugs are used no cuts or removals are made and hair plugs that create an unnatural effect are not implanted.

Phases Of Transplantation:
In the preparation phase a project of the thickening relative to the model and the density desired by the patient is carried out. To make the aesthetic effect better, the micro holes are inclined so as to imitate the natural inclination of the hair in the receiving area.

The punch with which the follicular units to be implanted are extracted consists of a pneumatic suction and pressure system. In practice, the punch performs the extraction of follicular units, following the direction of the hair, sucking it through a tube. This is transported in a collection chamber with filter and immediately transplanted with a regular and progressive movement of the piston.

The bulbs are implanted in the receiving area by means of the same explant device. In this way the receiving hole will have the same dimensions of the transplanted follicle. This allows a very fast healing and practically invisible scars.

After the fue transplant the hair will grow naturally and their growth and disposition will be superimposed on the original one. The hair can then be washed, combed and cut as before.

The Disadvantages Of The Fue Technique:
The fue transplant operation is quite long . On average, 500 to 1,000 follicles per day are taken and implanted depending on the surgeon's ability. This means that to obtain the same result as the fuss technique (3,000 - 3,500 bulbs implanted in one session) several meetings are required.

Use of punch must be appropriate. The surgeon must be very careful in following the particular inclination that the hair shaft runs through the scalp, otherwise it may damage the follicular unit . In the best of cases, however, up to 30% of the grafts are damaged during this operation.

Transplantation fue is not recommended for people with wavy or curly hair and those with a high bald area to thicken. In this last case, in fact, the sessions would be so numerous as to make the intervention extremely expensive and not very competitive compared to a more traditional technique.
